IN CELEBRATION of their 50th wedding anniversary, Mr. and Mrs. Paul M. Helmer, 1452 Poplar Drive, were feted with a reception of Sunday at the Fairborn United Methodist Church.
The reception was hosted by their children and attending the guest book was Mrs. Denver Freeman.
The Helmers were married Feb. 4, 1933, in Travis Park Methodist Church, San Antonio, Texas, by the Rev. George Baker. They came to Fairborn in 1941 and he taught school in the area until his retirement several years ago. Helmer now delivers meals to disabled people in the local area.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Helmer are active with FISH and the Salvation Army and are members of the Methodist Church.
The couple are the parents of five children and have seven grandchildren: Mr. and Mrs. David (Luana) McMeans, William P., David and Mark of Fairborn; Mr. and Mrs. Hollis D. (Dr. Georgia) Smith of St. Louis, Mo.; Dr. and Mrs. Wayne A. Helmer, Laura and Alan of Carbondale, Ill; Mr. and Mrs. Sidney D. Helmer, Jennifer and Travis of Fairborn; and Drs. Christopher and Roberta Stalberg of New York City.
Out-of-town relatives who attended and then stayed for a ramily reunion on July 4th were Mrs. Helmer's brothers and their wives, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Swezey of Enid, Okla., and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Swezey of Mannford, Okla.; her sisters, Mrs. Hazel Rockwell, Ringwood, Okla., and Miss Opal Swezey, Enid; Helmer's brother, Marvin Helmer of Dayton; and Hollis Smith's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Smith of Atlanta, Ga. |
